Social Studies Q4 Extra Credit Option

Here is your last chance to earn extra credit in order to improve your Social Studies grade.

Write a Sugar Cane Industry written report. Take your Powerpoint Presentation and turn it into a written report.

 

Project Grading:

You can earn up to 10 points of extra credit in the following way:

** You must include each section of your presentation in your report

**Expand on the ideas by writing paragraphs about each topic.  (4 points)

**Include pictures, graphics (2 points)

**Add new information in your project (4 points)

 

Spelling, grammar and correctness count! I will take off points if I find errors.

You must email or hand me your report no later than Friday May 18 at 3pm.



Social Studies for the week of May 14

Monday May 14 - Lokahi field trip to Maui Nui Botanical Garden and MACC student art exhibit. Be sure to either bring a lunch from home or pick up your school lunch on the way to class. In order to participate in the sugar can activity you MUST bring or wear to school the following clothes: regular shoes-no slippers, long pants and a long sleeve shirt/sweatshirt or jacket.  If you do not bring or wear these clothes you will not be able to participate in the sugar cane activity. You will be given an alternate activity during that time.

Homework: You will create identification cards for 5 plants that we learned about on our field trip. You will use the computer and will include the following things:

-A picture of the plant - find one on the computer

-The common name of the plant

-The Hawaiian name of the plant

-The common uses of the plant

-Email it to me

Wednesday May 16 - We will start our final project of the quarter. We will be brainstorming all of the current issues in Hawaii and having a class discussion. Each of you will choose a topic to further research.
